DMV Answers

Judy: Yes, I know. It's ridiculous.

Abby: I have a Michigan license, which is where I lived before I moved. But in order to be put on my boss's car insurance, and to get health insurance, I need to have a Georgia driver's license.

7 days till baby!

That's CRAZY - to get health insurance you need a GA driver's license??? Egads!

You needed a passport and birth certificate and all that other stuff to get a driver's license in GA when you already had a DL from another state?? That's just wrong.

Each time I've moved across state lines, it seems all I've mainly needed was a new awful driver's license pic.

This spells it all out pretty clearly:

http://www.dds.ga.gov/drivers/DLdata.aspx?con=1744173714&ty=dl

According to that you MUST get a license within 30 days of arriving in GA.

You simply turn in your Mich license, provide your SSN, birth certificate, proof that you live in GA (copy of the contract from your employer or a letter from them stating that you reside and are employed with them).

Hope you get the license soon.
