Look! A New Post!

It's about time eh? This is basically just a little update on the happenings of my way to eventful life :) Enjoy.

-Called my friend Amanda today to see how she was doing. She's pregnant and due in 7 days and I hadn't heard from her in awhile. She informed me that she was the victim of a hit and run accident on Wednesday. She was monitered in the hospital for 4 hrs. afterwards to make sure that the baby was okay. He's fine, she's fine--it's all good. Yesterday she had 4 hours of contractions. Today she had another 3 hours. My first thought was "Oh crap, I haven't gotten her a gift yet." Not only did I not get her a gift yet, I didn't get anything for the baby either....or Amanda's 5 year old son. So it was off to the store I went. I got her a gift card for Bath & Body Works, 2 cute outfits for the baby, and a card for her 5 year old. So keep a look-out for the baby update this weekend, everyone is pretty sure that the little guy is going to be born this weekend.

-We have very little food in the fridge. Peanut butter & jelly sandwiches have become my best friend. Along with string cheese.

-Money is in short supply also. Hence the reason there's very little food in the fridge.

-I have 3 exams next week. I'm going to be a library rat. Maybe someone will leave me some food while I'm there.

-No word on the job thing with the man. He's applied at 2 or 3 places, no calls back yet.

-The man doesn't have enough gas in his car to get through the week.

-The man hates his job, at least that's the vibe I get from him.

-School sucks. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

-The job for me is going extremely well. Monday starts my 12 day work marathon. That includes 2 overnight's + Saturday and Sunday. I love my job, but working that much is definately not my idea of fun. Oh well, it's money...and we need it.

-Went to the bar tonight, neither me nor the man drank anything--that lack of money issue again. We went to see The Darwin Project. They're a band from Petoskey and the man knows the drummer. They're good :) I enjoy their music. One of the few live bands that I actually like.

-I'm dragging the man to a Mozart concert tomorrow night. I'm going for 2 reasons, 1) I've played a lot of classical music. 2) It's extra credit for my music history class. The professor for the class is also the director of the symphony orchestra that's putting on the concert. BONUS!

-As of right now I'm doing most of the cleaning in the house. But that's going to change soon.

-It's cold here. 39 F right now. No heat on in this place yet...again, the money issue.

That's about it. Have a good weekend :)

Getting Hit Hard...

I kind of feel like the lady in that commercial about that migraine medicine. The one where she's like "Does anybody else see that huge meteor coming right at us?" Now change the migraine to stress and presto chango, you have a perfect picture of me!

Spanish is kicking my rear end BIG TIME. I got a 76% on my 1st exam. Now I know it's still a C....but a C is, in my mother's words "just not acceptable/embarrassing/disappointing/laziness/all of the above." Yeah, that conversation went well. My other classes are going okay. The biggest issue on the table right now is money. Yes, grand ole green stuff that we humans revolve around because it is basically the essence of our survival. Even though in all honestly, it's funny colored paper with a dead guys picture on it.

So this wonderful colored paper is in short supply around these parts. These parts meaning the apartment I currently reside in with my boyfriend. The small bills are no big deal. Cell phones, internet, electric....it's the rent that's gonna be the breaking point. I can cover my 1/2 of the rent for the month. It's the other 1/2 of the rent that is becoming an issue. The money isn't coming in as fast as we need it to. And I really can't afford to cover the other half of the rent. So that's the bad news....The good news is that the man went and applied for a 2nd job today since his 1/2 of the rent is the half that isn't covered yet.

Now don't get me worng, I'm doing my part to. I'm picking up extra babysitting jobs as often as I can. Even if I don't like the kids or the family, I still do it--at all hours, on any day if I'm not already busy. Which is adding to the stress because I'm more tired now seeing as how I lie awake at night and think about stuff. Especially funny colored paper. K...I guess that's enough complaining for now. I have to go babysit from 5:30-6:00 and then again from 8-midnight. Have a good weekend!

Winter is a comin!

Most people would call this season Fall. But not us up here in the Easter Upper Penninsula of Michigan. No siree, it's pre-winter. Now don't get me wrong, we still have 4 seasons up here......Pre-winter-(September thru October), winter-(late October thru April), post-winter-(May-June), and summer-(July-August) It's currently 45 F here and it's only going to get colder from there. I don't particularly like this weather. It's too cold to really go out and do anything Fall-ish, but it's not cold enough to do winter stuff yet. Quite the conundrum batman! I'm just waiting for the day when I wake up and a thin layer of ice all over my car. Then I get to heat my car key with a lighter and hope that it gets hot enough to melt the frozen lock. Gee, I can't wait. 2 good things about winter though, my birthday and Christmas! Unfortunately, 3 days after Christmas I'm having my wisdom teeth cut out of my jaw.

Okay, that's enough rambling about pre-winter for now. I'm gonna go make some hot cocoa and curl up under a blanket because I refuse to turn on the heat before the end of October.

14 More Weeks...

Yes folks, I'm already counting down how many more weeks of school until the end of the semester. Sad, I know. Classes are going pretty well. I'm struggling a bit in Spanish, but I think that's just the way it is when you learn a new language.

I'm loving my job more and more each day. The child I watch is an absolute doll and we have so much fun every day. I'm glad that I'm not working at the Center right now. Though I do miss it, I've heard that it is absolutely chaotic there and the boss is getting worse by the day. The word going around is that I ditched the Center at the last minute to take a better oppportunity. Which is absolutely false! My friends from the Center have been calling me and asking what's up, so I've been able to explain it from my side. As for the better opportunity, I love my job right now but I'm making about 1/3 as much as I would at the Center, so the better opportunity thing is a load of crap.

The man has started his job, I'm not sure if he likes it or not. He doesn't really talk about it that much. We're both still adjusting to all of the changes that happened. We're settling into a routine though so it's not as tense now.

I guess that's about it for now.

Let The Homework Begin!

I'll be honest, I hate homework. I hate it when I get it, I hate it when I'm working on it, and I hate it when I'm done. But I always do it, I'm a stickler for doing all assignments on time, even if it means I end up running on 4 hours of sleep and 2 pots of coffee the next day. Professor's here don't ease you into homework, they just pile it on the first day and then add to the pile every day thereafter until the end of the semester, 15 weeks away. It's like your brain is running a 16 week marathon, taking a 3 week break to rejuvenate, then another 16 week marathon.
Anyways, after only 3 days of class, I have lots of reading to do:

2 Chapters to read for Astronomy
3 Chapters, an essay, and familiarize myself with the APA publication manual for Pyschology
2 sections of math and 1 section of holiday seasons for Spanish
4 sections & the prelude for Music

And my parents wonder why I only read one "leisure reading" book a month!

While I have been writing this post I have come to one conclusion....My brain is in better shape than my body is.

First Day of School...

Well the first day of school has passed without flaw. I went to the right classes, had the right books, and didn't fall asleep in any of them. :)

So far I like all of my classes. Music history is going to be interesting, the professor tells a lot of really bad jokes...but hey, it beats the monotone "blah blah blah" that many professors seem to love. Spanish should be pretty easy. The teacher takes in nice and slow, 3 weeks per chapter. So it shouldn't be too hard and she seems really nice. Psychology is going to kick my butt. But I kind of expected that because it's a 300 level class. We get to do psychology experiments in that class. The first experiment is making each other drool on command. Think Pavlov and the dog's :) Should be interesting! The only class I haven't had yet is Astronomy. I have that today. So I'll let ya'll know how that is.

K, I guess that's about it. My boyfriend and I are still working out this 'living together' thing. No major fights, but definately a bit of tension between us at times. He got a job, so now we both have income--which relieves a lot of the stress.

My parents are coming up today. That in itself should be interesting. They're staying in the same room at a hotel, even though they live in seperate houses that are 400 miles away. Oh well, I'll just avoid the hotel.

Have a great Thursday! The week is almost over :)

Child Wrangler, Version 2

Hopefully this will fix all the problems I was having with Child Wrangler. Let me know!
